The mission of the department takes into account the leading directions of the development of education in the Republic of Kazakhstan: the formation of an innovative thinking philologist, a specialist of a new formation; training of a professional competent specialist, capable of creatively solving the issues of the formation, development of the student's personality; training of a multilingual specialist; participation in the implementation of the Trilingual Education program.

MAIN SCIENTIFIC DIRECTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT:

Improving the quality of education and training graduates, ensuring a stable position of the university in the educational services market, significant results in the process of fundamental and applied research on topical problems of linguistics and literary studies, as well as participation in programs for the modernization of education in the southern region and the country. Every year, scientists of the department take part in international, republican scientific and methodological conferences, in writing school textbooks.

 On the basis of the department, regional seminars are held for lecturers of the Russian language and literature: "Innovative methods of teaching the Russian language and literature in a modern university and school", "State and prospects of the methodology of the Russian language and literature", etc.

The staff of the department: the department is a kind of scientific and methodological center, in which 5 professors lead the training of highly qualified specialists; 8 candidates of sciences, associate professors; 12 senior lecturers, 5 Lecturers. All Lecturers have basic education.

The department is headed by the candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Ibraimova Leskul. The professionalism and high qualifications of the teaching staff are reflected in honorary awards and titles. Winners of the competition of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan "The best Lecturer of the university": Abdrakhman G.. 2007 and 2020, Maigeldiyeva Sh. 2016, Safronova L. 2012, Dzhylkybekova G. 2015, Professor A. Shukanov, associate professors A. Aladina, N. Svidova R. Malysheva were awarded the breastplate "Y. Altynsarin".

The teaching staffs of the department are actively involved in the development of textbooks for secondary schools with Russian as the language of instruction. Today, students of grades 5 and 9 of the Republic of Kazakhstan study Russian literature using textbooks authored by Prof. L. Safronova and Associate Professor N. Svidova.

The teaching staff of the department prepares graduates of all existing levels of training of specialists: bachelor's, master's, doctoral PhD. Graduates of educational programs are successful in the educational services market. The employability of graduates of Russian studies is 100%.
