The main tasks of the head of the Patent and Metrology Sector are:

• • effective use of the scientific potential of the University to solve scientific and scientific-technical problems.
• • improving the quality of training by actively using the results of scientific research in the educational process.

Objectives of the Patents and Metrology Sector:

• • create economic, legal and organizational conditions for the development at the university of inventive creativity and the use of intellectual property in economic activity;
• • stimulate inventive activity, protection of the rights and interests of authors and persons contributing to the creation and use of intellectual property;
• • organize patent information work, provide university employees with information on the topics of ongoing and promising research projects;
• • take part in the preparation of contracts for the creation of scientific and technical documentation and monitor their implementation;
• • organize the preparation and submission of applications to the National Institute of Intellectual Property (NIIP) for the grant of patents for inventions;
• • monitor and keep records of scientific and technical research at the university at the level of invention;
• • take part in the design of the stand for patent and information work;
• • take part in resolving issues of expedient foreign patenting, prepare materials and conduct correspondence through NIIP;
• • provide staff development;
• • provide effective control over the implementation of internal regulations, labor protection, safety and fire regulations by all employees of the sector;
• • take part in the preparation of scientific and technical conferences of the university at all levels;
• • in the patent service, it is mandatory to be guided by the current patent law and regulatory acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• • systematically select published and unpublished materials on the achievement of science and technology in intersectoral best practices;
• • carry out organizational work to attract faculty members to conferences, symposia, meetings;
• • accept, verify information sheets, manuscripts for deposit and their sending to Kazakh National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise;
• • prepare annual activity reports and submit them to management in the established manner.
